A few weeks ago I mentioned that Oliver has now reached both a height and a level of dexterity that caused me to fix the toilet seats in our house such that they stay upright and he can stand up to pee.
He has taken to this like a duck to water (so to speak). He [...]

Oliver kisses me goodbye through the glass panel of the front door (November 2006).
If you read Daddy blogs you’ll have read a lot about SAHDs. And there’s no doubting they are at the forefront of changing attitudes to parenting roles. But have you heard of the GTWDs?
That’s right, the Go To Work Dads.

Today, a mere17 months after first consulting a doctor regarding Oliver’s hearing, he underwent surgery to insert grommets in both ears.
Oliver and I were up at 6.30am prompt and given that he wasn’t allowed any food or drink from the midnight just passed, it wasn’t too difficult for us to get ready and be at [...]

About a year ago I took Oliver to an ENT consultant about his hearing. The consultant said he may have “glue ear” and that he may grow out of it.
Then a few months ago I noticed his hearing was definitely a problem. At night with his right ear on the pillow, I could talk to [...]

Breakfast at McDonald’s: 5 quid.
Cycling to Subway for lunch, towing Oliver on the tag-a-long bike: 6 quid plus some sweating.
Spending the day with my son then having him tell me, unprompted, what a great day he had with me: priceless!
